Welcome to the London Youth Trust

The London Youth Trust (LYT) is a long standing London based Charitable Trust that provides for three distinct levels of targeted grants to support the development of young people in London.

What does LYT do?
We will fund the following levels of Awards:

  • Bursaries to enable young people to undertake an accredited leadership or citizenship award.
  • Scholarships to enable existing young adult leaders to undertake an accredited leadership or instructor qualification.
  • Fellowships to allow existing adult leaders to undertake formal research or investigation into a youthwork related area.

Working for Life (W4L) Project

LYT has combined with The Tower of London to support a skills training, work experience, apprenticeship and degree course scheme, ‘Working for Life’ (W4L). This scheme, supported wholeheartedly by the Governor, Major General Keith Cima, will allow more than 300 young people, mainly from The London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH), to take part over an initial three years in programmes aimed at assisting their future employability. H.E. Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Archbishop of WestminsterquoteAn Award from The London Youth Trust will let young people know, very powerfully, that somebody believes in them - and believes that they can make successes of their lives. Belief is infectious and in no time at all those same young people will believe in themselves. When you believe in yourself there is no limit to what you can achieve and when you understand that, quotethere is no turning back.

H.E. Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor,
Archbishop of Westminster
